The Four Big Search Engines

Google  Google promises the Web's most relevant results and delivers.  Click on "Images" for great search engine on art.  Also        
        Scholarly variant of Google.  Google Custom Search See JKM Library.
Yahoo  A very good portal and easier to use than most.  Has fewer site descriptions than the similar Open Directory.
MSN.  Microsoft Network

Lycos  Lycos ® is a registered trademark of Carnegie Mellon University.  Better for business searches than fun stuff.
Lycos Multimedia.  Good search engine for looking for pictures of biblical characters.
MetaCrawler Combines results from top engines such as Google with a friendly, customizable interface
Mnemotrix Archaeo Search  Database for Ancient Near East and Classical Studies
Pixsy  Search millions of photos and videos
