This list of commentaries represents my judgment on what are the best commentaries on each book of the Old Testament. I recognize that there is some subjectivity here, but I have kept in mind the special needs of pastors, associates in ministry, and diaconal ministers rather than of scholars.  The commentaries are listed in order of preference, though that order may vary depending on the user's needs or linguistic skills and interests.
